Ao assistir às gravações da adaptação cinematográfica do clássico conto de fadas "A Branca de Neve", Jeanne, órfã de 15 anos, sucumbe de imediato ao feitiço da protagonista, a cativante Cristina, de quem rapidamente se torna protegida. Pouco a pouco, o vínculo entre ambas mergulha a jovem rapariga numa armadilha da qual talvez não consiga escapar. Marion Cotillard revela-se exímia ao lado da estreante — e toda ela promessa — Clara Pacini, numa obra de beleza glacial e etérea que esteve em competição pelo Urso de Ouro no mais recente Festival de Berlim. O filme da francesa Lucile Hadžihalilovic, que conta ainda com a participação de Gaspar Noé, seu marido e colaborador assíduo, debruça-se sobre o abismo da perda e a natureza volátil da mais bela das ilusões — o próprio cinema.
While observing the shoot of a cinematic adaptation of the classic fairy tale “Snow White,” Jeanne, a 15-year-old orphan, immediately falls under the spell of the protagonist, the captivating Cristina, who quickly takes her under her wing. Gradually, the bond between them draws the young girl into a trap she may not be able to escape. Marion Cotillard shines alongside promising newcomer Clara Pacini in a film of glacial and ethereal beauty that competed for the Golden Bear at the most recent Berlin Film Festival. Directed by French filmmaker Lucile Hadžihalilovic, who also features Gaspar Noé, her husband and frequent collaborator, the film delves into the abyss of loss and the volatile nature of the most beautiful illusion of all — cinema itself.
